In 1992 the Belarusian State Technological Institute named after S. M. Kirov started a degree program in Enterprise Economy and Management for forestry, timber, woodworking, pulp and paper, chemical and building materials industries of the Republic of Belarus. In 1996 training of accounting, management and marketing professionals for timber, chemical, building materials industries was initiated followed by the creation of the Economic Engineering Faculty.

EDUCATION

The training students of the Economic Engineering Faculty was carried out in accordance with the educational standards and model plans approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic Belarus. Students of the Faculty of Engineering and Economics study issues of economics, planning research, organization of external economic activity, finance, accounting, economic analysis, marketing, management at enterprises of the real sector of the national economy in accordance with specializations. Students, in addition to economics, also study engineering and technological disciplines, using unique material and technical base of the university, undergo educational and industrial practice at the forefront enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, implement academic mobility in countries such as the Chinese People’s Republic, Russian Federation, etc. In the educational process we widely apply innovative teaching methods using computer and multitmedia technologies, modern technical means of distance learning and software, business games, case studies. There are a large number of winners of republican and international competitions among students and undergraduates. Scientific research corresponds to the priority areas of economic development, innovation management, sustainable economic development, sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation, application non-traditional and renewable energy sources, the formation of clusters in industries, property management and ensuring the digital transformation of business process in the field of residential real state and green areas. The faculty trains highly qualified specialists through postgraduate and doctoral studies. There is a Council for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations. PhD an doctoral dissertations are defended by more than 30 graduates and faculty members, the main part of which works at the university. The faculty has a student research economic club EconoMix, which is a diploma holder of a special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support gifted pupils and students.

Faculty graduates work in planning and economic departments, financial social services, accounting, departments of labor and wages, marketing, foreign economic activity, audit companies, scientific research investigative institutions, ministries and departments of the Republic of Belarus. A number of faculty graduates currently occupy high positions. The departments of the faculty have established international relations with foreign institutions: Moscow State Forest University (Russia), Vilnius Technical University. Gediminas (Lithuania), St. Petersburg Forest Engineering Academy (Russia), Italian-Research Institute (Bari), European Business School (Oestrich-Winkel, Germany), Central School (Nantes, France), Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala), Research Institute Finnish forests METLA and Metsateho (Vantaa), design and consulting firm LEV (Salzburg, Austria), Institute for Environmental Problems and power supply (Kyiv, Ukraine), etc.

STUDENT RESEARCH ECONOMIC CLUB ECONOMIX

Faculty of Engineering and Economics organized to improve training of highly qualified economic specialists, deepening the practical skills of conducting a collective creative work, acquisition of management skills, investment and innovation processes, obtaining knowledge in the field of management of all aspects of activity organizations. In December 2013, SREC EconoMix received a grant for financial support of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus on social support for gifted pupils and students.
